"I've wanted somehow to convey to you the sensations- the atmospheric pressure, you might say- of what it is to be seriously a long-term prisoner in an american prison. That sentence does not adequately say what i mean. I've wanted to convey to you what it means to be in prison after a childhood spent in penal institutions.
